There's a new pizza in town. And it is gooood.
Taking over the space that Trocadero claimed for sixteen years, Dimoda has quickly made a name for itself with a menu of wood-fired pizzas, pastas, and other Italian creations. While set up is similar, there are some noticeable changes, such as the crisp white bar that overlooks the patio. The newly connected dining rooms expose walls full of vines and space for larger parties.
Rumor had it the food was good, but I had to try it for myself. The rumors were true.
I hit up Dimoda for happy hour with my friend Lindsay to take advantage of the deals. Unfortunately, their happy hour is fairly limited, but it does last to 7pm, giving you plenty of time to enjoy some sangria or certain half priced apps. I enjoyed their white sangria for $5 and tasted Lindsay's blueberry mule (not part of their happy hour offerings, but oh so yummy). We shared their Fritter Balls for half price, which were made up of three risotto balls filled with mozzarella cheese and peas. These breaded, crispy balls were served with a parmesan cheese sauce and a tomato dipping sauce. For my entrée, I enjoyed the 'So Fresh' Roman style pizza with mozzarella, blistered grape tomatoes, almond lemon pesto, and basil. The ingredients were perfectly balanced and fired to perfection. This pizza has filled my foodie dreams since my first visit and (luckily) I live close by, so I can satisfy my cravings any day of the week.
Wood fired and fresh. Welcome to MKE, Dimoda.
