Good Golly, Miss Molly.
Owned and operated by Wauwatosa native Molly Sullivan, Miss Molly's serves locally sourced breakfast and lunch fare made fresh daily. Besides the strange location across from a school and a lamp shop, Miss Molly's was quaint and charming. With a fairly extensive menu for such a small place, it would be hard to find something you don't want. In fact, the real issue will be trying to pick just one. We couldn't do it, so we "sampled" (and by sampled, I mean ate every last bite) three tasty treats.
We tried the strawberry rhubarb crisp, which was vegan and gluten free for those that have dietary restrictions. I'm a big fan of anything strawberry rhubarb and it was my favorite of the three things we "sampled." The crisp was served warm with the option of enjoying it a la mode. We also got the avocado and egg panini, served on delicious sourdough bread. If our pants weren't already feeling tight enough, our third indulgence was the crispy polenta cake, which was my least favorite, but still a nice breakfast/brunch option. For a better balance of flavors, I wish the polenta had been prepared thinner or, if not thinner, with one more added element of a sauce or seasoning.
The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, with a fireplace and couches to cozy up and enjoy a day of relaxation (and some yummy food) with a good book and cup of coffee in hand. Despite the rather odd location, Miss Molly's was full of people enjoying a chilly Saturday morning. I'm glad to know the word is out and people are venturing to this local gem.
